When organizing a tour for visitors, it is often difficult to find the right balance between the amount of information that you want to provide and the time available for the visitors. Some visitors might want more information about a certain topic while the rest of the group is less interested in it. Instead, they want to dig deeper into another item of the tour.

Providing all your information during the tour is often not possible. In an ideal situation, you would like to provide information to each visitor individually, taking into account their specific interests during the tour.

Cegeka has found the perfect solution for this need. We developed a mobile app for visitors that makes it possible to provide extra information at a certain specific location.

Our customers and prospects have the opportunity to visit Cegeka’s Software Factory. During this tour, we explain our Agile way of working, what our values are and how we keep track of ongoing projects.

We are always looking for ways to delight our customers. Recently we created an iOS application which enables to show interactive content on their mobile during their visit. What’s more, we only wanted to show relevant content depending on the location of the visitor. For example, we only show extra information about our Agile values on the visitor’s mobile app when he is looking at an Agile poster which hangs in a specific room of the building.

In that way, the visitor is indicating that he wants more information about a certain topic by standing still at a certain specific location.

To enable the geolocation feature, the application needs to know exactly where the user is situated in a building. A GPS is not precise enough to know in which room visitors arelocated. Therefore we decided to install iBeacons all over the building.

An iBeacon is a small device, no larger than a refrigerator magnet, which sends out a Bluetooth signal with a certain location identification number. Our app can map those numbers to specific information of the visitors tour. So when the app receives a Bluetooth signal from an iBeacon, it will show the relevant information. Simple but effective.
